Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of Green KTF™—a mostly plant-based microporous film.
Approximately 90% of Green KTF™ is derived from natural products such as calcium carbonate and plant-derived polyethylene while having the same performance as conventional KTF™. The unique structure of the film has pores large enough to allow water vapor to pass, but small enough to block water droplets.
The manufacturing of this unique plant-based film has been made possible through MCC’s development of a new production method. In comparison to the conventional product, Green KTF™ releases approximately 30%* less CO2 emissions during production, significantly reducing the environmental burden.
KTF™ is mainly used in the back sheets of disposable diapers and other hygiene materials, as well as the bases for high-performance protective clothing. Recently demand has been increasing with the development of the Asian region and it is expected to experience steady growth in the future.
